Carolyn Creekmore Wins 2015 Texas Women’s Senior Stroke Play

Creekmore wins her fifth Women's Senior Stroke Play, her first since 2006, by six strokes.

Wichita Falls, TX- Carolyn Creekmore of Dallas won the 2015 Women’s Senior Stroke Play by six strokes over Marian Barker of Lubbock for her 5th Senior Stroke Play Title. The victory is her first since 2006 when she won four consecutive years dating back to 2003. Creekmore saw her lead evaporate early when she bogeyed the par three, second followed by a Marian Barker birdie on the par four, third. However, Creekmore jumped out to a commanding lead when her birdie on the difficult par four, fifth was three better than Barker’s double bogey. Creekmore remained consistent after some up and downs with 10 straight pars. Barker tried to fight back with a birdie on the thirteenth, but with a bogey on the fifteenth she remained four back from the leader. Despite a double bogey on the last, her 225, 54-hole total gave her a solo second finish. Jewell Malick of Rockwall took home the Super-Senior title with a 54-hole score of 235. The Super-Super winner was Linda Jones of Horseshoe Bay with a 54-hole score of 265. Both were able to reclaim their titles from their respective age groups in 2014. Marian Barker of Lubbock won the First Flight with a 54-hole total of 225. Becky Neal of Mansfield came in second with a second lowest final round score of 73. In the Second Flight, Carolyn Pazara of Arlington took the title by five strokes over Melissa Gotfredson of Irving. Finishing in solo third was Linda Jones of Horseshoe Bay. The Third flight featured Dianne Wills of Plano taking the crown by four over Margie Barlow of Montgomery. Deborah Rounsavall of Chandler finished in third place just six back of Wills. The third round made for the best day of scoring as the average score was 87.1, down two shots from the second round.
