CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Buck Brittain successfully defended his title at the Kenridge Invitational, shooting a final round 71 to edge Vincent Nadeau and Ben Warnquist by a stroke.
Brittain opened with 72, fought back with 68 on Saturday, and closed out his second straight victory with 71 on Sunday.
Warnquist made a valiant run at the title with a 68 on Sunday, but fell just a shot short of the defending champion.
Second-round leader Scott Shingler had rounds of 69 and 70 in the books but struggled to a 78 on Sunday and fell back into a tie for 12th place.
The Kenridge Invitational is a 54-hole stroke play tournament held every year since 1932 at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Virginia. The 2015 championship was special in that it was the first time since 1936 that the club will host both the Kenridge and the Virginia State Amateur.
