Bogey-free 66 lifts Adam Valickus to Texas North Mid-Am title

A bogey-free 66 in the final round powered Adam Valickas from one back to a two-shot victory at the Texas North Mid-Amateur

Adam Valickus delivered a composed, clinical finish to claim the Texas North Mid-Amateur Championship, pulling away on the final day at Cleburne Golf Links.

The 39-year-old from Fort Worth fired rounds of 70-68-66 to reach 12-under par and secure a two-shot victory, closing with a bogey-free, tournament-low 66 to separate himself from a tightly packed leaderboard.

Valickus began the final round in third place at 6-under, one shot behind co-leaders Andrew Lawson of Dallas and Brock Mulder of McKinney, who shared the 36-hole lead at 7-under. But while others stalled, Valickus surged. His clean card on Sunday proved decisive, as he steadily built momentum and never gave it back.

Lawson stayed within reach but ultimately settled for solo second at 10-under (69-68-69), while Mulder slipped to T-3 at 7-under (70-67-72) after entering the day tied for the lead.

In the Mid-Master division (ages 40+), Lawson’s performance was enough to earn top honors. His 10-under total gave him a three-shot win in the category over Mulder, who also finished runner-up in the division.

The Texas North Mid-Amateur Championship features 84 players competing over 54 holes of stroke play with no cut. Alongside the overall title, the events recognize the low Mid-Master performer.

Results also carry added weight in the season-long race, as players earn points toward the North Regional Player of the Year standings, with the top 30 finishers and ties receiving credit.

Valickus, Lawson, and Mulder—all finishing inside the top three—along with the low Mid-Master, secured exemptions into the 43rd Texas Mid-Amateur presented by Hytera US, set for October 2–4 at Wichita Falls Country Club.
