Berkeley Cup feels like home to Guest

Fresh off representing Georgia in the Southeastern Challenge Matches, Keith Guest of Athens, Ga. won the Berkeley Cup (mid-amateur division) Sunday at the Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth, Ga.

The Athens Country Club member took a one-shot lead into the final round and shot a final round 70 to finish at 5-under 211 for the 54-hole event, which was good for a two-stroke victory over 2001 Walker Cup team member Nick Cassini (Atlantic Athletic Club) and former Georgia Mid-Am champion Taylor Smith (Berkeley Hills CC.)

Guest, who played collegiately at Augusta State, opened with rounds of 70 and 71 and closed with a solid 2-under 70 on Sunday to take the title. He turned in even par 36 and picked up two birdies on the backside to close out his championship run.

The Berkeley Cup is a 54 hole stroke play invitational featuring Mid-Am and Senior divisions. Berkeley Hills Country Club has hosted multiple major events from the Georgia State Mid-Am, USGA qualifying, Georgia PGA Championships, and an annual NCAA tournament hosted by Georgia State.
