Avondale Bowl: Ann Jang defeats Shyla Singh in a playoff

Jang, the reigning Australian Junior Am, needed four extra holes to take down Singh

16-year-old Ann Jang from England shot 1-under par, matching Shyla Singh of Australia. She later defeated Singh in the play-off to secure the victory in the Avondale Bowl at Avondale Golf Club in New South Wales, Australia.

Jang, the reigning Australian Junior Am, carded rounds of 74-78-71-68 to match Singh, the 2023 New South Wales Amateur champion, who posted rounds of 74-72-73-72, resulting in a total score of 1-under par and forcing a playoff. Subsequently, Jang emerged victorious by making par on the fourth extra hole, surpassing Singh.


Jang, who holds English citizenship, immigrated from South Korea with her family when she was 11, currently resides in Cherrybrook in north-western Sydney. She has enrolled at Endeavour Sports High School.

Michelle Bang, the overnight leader with her rounds of 73-74-69 added a final round 76 to miss out on the playoff by a shot and finished third at even-par.

The tournament featured participation from 38 players, of which 19 made the halfway cut.
