Amateurs Top Pros to win Tar Heel Cup

Two teams of the best playing amateurs and PGA Professionals from the state of North Carolina met for the 24th time

WALLACE, NC (April 3, 2018) – The North Carolina Amateurs defeated the North Carolina Professionals 7 Points to 5 Points to win the 24th Tar Heel Cup Matches at River Landing Golf Club. Chris Cassetta from High Point, NC drained a 15-foot birdie putt on the 15th hole to secure the Cup and the clinching point for the Amateurs. The Amateurs led after Four-Ball Matches 2.5 to 1.5 and secured 4.5 points in Singles Matches to win.

Two teams of the best playing amateurs and PGA Professionals from the state of North Carolina met for the 24th time in a friendly team match play event called the "Tar Heel Cup". River Landing Country Club located in Wallace, NC is hosting this event for the fourth time on its River Course.

For the fifth time since 2012, the CGA Amateur team won the cup from the Professionals, and have held the cup for six of last seven years.
