Amateur golf activity ramps up over the coming week, highlighted by state association majors, elite junior invitationals, and several regional championships. Players mapping out their spring schedules should pay particular attention to upcoming registration deadlines and events already underway across the country.

Deadlines to Know

Registration for the Florida Azalea Amateur at Palatka Golf Club in Palatka, Florida, closes on March 13. The prestigious state-sanctioned stroke-play championship will be contested March 20–22 with a 156-player field and a $250 entry fee, traditionally drawing one of the strongest amateur fields in the Southeast.

Running alongside the main event is the Florida Azalea Senior Amateur Championship, scheduled for March 13–15 at the same venue. The senior division offers experienced competitors a chance to compete in a major Florida amateur event. While the senior championship does not list a separate deadline publicly, registration typically aligns closely with the main tournament’s closing date.

Events Concluding This Week

Several tournaments wrap up this week as early-season schedules continue to build momentum.

The Moot Thomas Invitational concludes March 11 at Ocala Golf Club in Ocala, Florida. The long-running senior club event regularly attracts a competitive field from across the region.

Also finishing on March 11 is the Chris Banister Golf Classic at Silver Lakes Golf Course in Glencoe, Alabama. The event showcases collegiate women’s golf, bringing together programs from across the Southeast for early spring competition.

Invitational Play Begins

One of the most prestigious junior tournaments in the country begins this week as the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley tees off March 11 at Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville, South Carolina.

The invitation-only championship annually features many of the top junior players in the world and has served as an early proving ground for future collegiate stars and professionals.

In Nevada, the Vegas Warrior Invitational takes place March 11–12 at The Legacy Golf Club in Henderson. The tournament draws strong regional club-level competition as players begin their spring tournament schedules.

Match Play Championships Continue

Match play action is also heating up on the West Coast as the San Francisco City Championships continue at TPC Harding Park.

Both the San Francisco City 2026 Men’s Championship and the San Francisco City 2026 Women’s Championship are deep into their match-play brackets and will conclude on March 22. The historic championships demand stamina and strategic match-play execution as competitors battle through multiple rounds over several weeks.

Meanwhile, the Francis Hide I’l Brown Four-Ball Match Play is underway at Ewa Villages Golf Course in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. The senior four-ball championship runs through March 15, pairing teams in head-to-head matches across the week.

Regional Highlights

Several additional events highlight the regional amateur calendar.

In Arizona, the 2nd Arizona Stableford will be contested March 14–15 at Lone Tree Golf Club in Chandler. The tournament utilizes a Stableford scoring format, rewarding aggressive play and providing a different strategic challenge compared to traditional stroke play.

Further north, the Utah Senior Winterchamps Golf Tournament takes place March 12–13 at SunRiver Golf Club in St. George, Utah. The event features senior and women’s divisions and also incorporates the Stableford format.

With major invitationals beginning, match-play championships nearing their finals, and key registration deadlines approaching, the coming week offers a full slate of opportunities across the amateur golf calendar. Golfers looking to secure a spot in the Florida Azalea Amateur should act quickly before the March 13 deadline arrives.
