Yago Horno closed with a 70 to win by eight at Pula Golf Resort, extending a standout season
Yago Horno capped a dominant week at Pula Golf Resort (Son Servera), closing with a 2-under 70 to win the 2025 Balearic Men’s Cup by eight shots at 9-under 279.
The Balearic Men’s Cup is the first counting event for Spain’s Absolute and Under-18 National Rankings for 2026, and Horno treated it like a statement. He opened with a 68 to sit second, moved into the lead after a second-round 70, stretched clear with a third-round 71, and never looked back.
His final round was messy on paper — four birdies and four bogeys — but an eagle on the 12th proved decisive and kept him under par again.
Mateo Hidalgo finished runner-up at 1-under 287, while Eladio Dano Pérez and Samuel Love shared third at level-par 288. Love produced one of the rounds of the day, a 5-under 67 matched by Marc Bisellach, and also topped the Under-16 category.
For Horno, the win adds another trophy to a big season. The player from Huelva has already won the Spanish Under-18 Championship, the Spanish Under-18 International, and the Puerta de Hierro Cup, and he was runner-up at the Amateur Boys — a run of form that now carries into the winter ranking race.
The Balearic Cup, contested by 84 players, serves as the opening marker for Spain’s Absolute and Under-18 National Rankings for 2026. The event also carries pedigree: among past champions is Jon Rahm, the 2023 Masters winner, who lifted the title as a teenager in 2011.
