The Folds of Honor Collegiate is heating up at American Dunes, with Notre Dame and Alabama battling atop the men’s leaderboard

Grand Haven, Mich. — September 9, 2025
The Folds of Honor Collegiate is hitting its stride at American Dunes Golf Club, where both the men’s and women’s competitions are tightening as the second round unfolds. Now in its fourth year, the event blends a meaningful backdrop with a high-level early-season test for top programs.

Men’s Championship: Notre Dame and Alabama Set the Tone

Notre Dame has pushed to the top of the team leaderboard at 1-under overall, with defending champion Alabama at even par. Grand Valley State and Florida A&M are tied at +8, while Kansas sits at +9.

Individually, William Jennings (Alabama) and Calen Sanderson (Notre Dame) share the lead at −2 midway through Round 2. Trent Mierl (Missouri) surged with a run of birdies to reach −1, where he’s joined by Jack Mitchell (Alabama) and Rocco Salvitti (Notre Dame). With wind picking up, margins remain thin and the closing holes of Round 2 could shuffle the order.

Women’s Championship: Hekkonen’s 66 Sets the Bar; Baylor Leads Team Race

Anastasia Hekkonen (Kentucky) opened with a sparkling 66 (−6) to take command and will begin her second round this afternoon. Amelia Wan (Baylor) and Brynn Kort (Texas A&M) are tied for second at −1, while Megan Streicher (North Carolina) holds solo fourth at even par.

In the team standings, Baylor (+4) holds a slim edge over Texas A&M (+5). North Carolina and Kentucky are tied at +7, with Kansas fifth at +9. With two full rounds to play, the women’s team chase is wide open.

Rising Names to Watch

  • Anastasia Hekkonen (Kentucky) — six-under opener positions both her and the Wildcats for a move this afternoon.
  • Calen Sanderson (Notre Dame) and William Jennings (Alabama) — co-leaders at −2 as the men’s title race tightens.
  • Trent Mierl (Missouri) — big Round-2 jump to −1 puts the freshman squarely in contention.

Looking Ahead

As Round 2 continues, expect late swings on a demanding Nicklaus design that punishes misses and rewards patient ball-striking. With one round to come on Wednesday, both titles remain up for grabs.
