Here are our picks for the top five courses hosting local qualifying rounds that are still open for registration
With the 45th U.S. Senior Open heading to The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado in June, senior amateurs and professionals alike will endure a grueling qualifying process for a chance to tee it up against the best in the game.
The road to The Broadmoor starts at 32 local qualifying sites across the country, each offering a chance for the every man to play amongst the best of the best. Some courses stand out as particular favorites.
Here are our picks for the top five courses hosting local qualifying rounds that are still open for qualifying as of this writing:
1. The Omni Homestead Resort (Cascades Course) – Hot Springs, Virginia (May 6)
Omni properties tend to be crowd favorites. Regarded as one of the best mountain courses in the country, the Cascades Course at The Omni Homestead Resort is a favorite among traditionalists. The course has hosted numerous USGA events, and its challenging layout makes it one of the top venues for this year’s U.S. Senior Open qualifying.

2. Worthington Hills Country Club – Columbus, Ohio (May 5)
Located just outside downtown Columbus, Worthington Hills Country Club rewards accuracy and course management. The staples of Worthington Hills are tree-lined fairways, small greens, and subtle undulations. The club will play host to the Columbus Mid-Am shortly after this qualifying.
3. Wynlakes Golf & Country Club – Montgomery, Alabama (April 17)
Also host to the 2025 Alabama Boys' State Junior Championship, the course features water hazards on multiple holes and tight landing areas. Designed by Joseph L. Lee & Billy Fuller, Wynlakes has a reputation as a premier private club in Alabama.
4. River Landing Country Club – Wallace, North Carolina (May 9)
River Landing is also hosting a U.S. Open local qualifying, which filled up in a day. To many it is considered one of North Carolina’s best-kept secrets. This Clyde Johnston-designed course is a scenic masterpiece with a fantastic clubhouse to boot. The May time frame anticipates a perfectly conditioned course in rural North Carolina.
5. Goose Creek Golf Club – Mira Loma, California (April 29)
While not technically available to register, there are still spots on the wait list if you act fast. Often overshadowed by California’s bigger-name clubs, Goose Creek Golf Club has long been regarded as a hidden gem and a favorite among AmateurGolf.com members. The course is a frequent host USGA qualifying events, ensuring it will be a true test for U.S. Senior Open hopefuls.
