How Randy Haag was able to complete one of the top amateur seasons of 2024

The 2024 Super Senior Player of the Year won ten total times this season and was a key player in the Concession Cup
When Randy Haag began the season, he had one goal in mind.
Make the Concession Cup team.
Ten wins later, he not only made the team but was also comfortably the top name on the points list. At the Concessions Cup, he earned 2.5 points and won his singles match on his way to helping the United States win the team title.
Haag is currently ranked 2 in the AmateurGolf.com Super Senior Rankings and No. 4 in the AmateurGolf.com Senior Rankings.
In addition to his Concession Cup success, Haag won nine solo tournaments in the 2024 season and events like the NCGA Senior, his first in that category, the National Senior Hall of Fame, and the Society of Seniors Senior Masters.
“You know, it's the craziest thing of all the tournaments that I've won and the NCGA events. I've never won a stroke play event at Poppy Hills,” Haag said after his NCGA Senior Amateur win.
Haag added, “I think, having just played the Crump Cup at Pine Valley in very difficult conditions, making it to the semifinals there, and then coming home helped.”
He also made the semifinals of the Crump Cup and the final 32 of the U.S. Senior Amateur.
In addition to his win, Haag recorded three other top-five finishes and seven top-ten finishes. His worst finish of the year in rankings tournaments was a T10 at the Golfweek Senior National.
All of this success helped earn him the 2024 AmateurGolf.com Super Senior Player of the Year and a third-place finish in the Senior Player of the Year race.

The 2024 AGC Players of the Year
In his Amateur Golf career, Haag has won over 100 Northern California tournaments and has been named the Northern California Golf Association Player of the Year four times.
He has also played in 20 USGA events, won national events like the Stocker Cup and Crump Cup, and is the three-time AmateurGolf.com Player of the Year.
“It has been a lot of tournaments this year and a lot of traveling. I'm not complaining, but it's just, you know, it seems like all I did this year was, you know, prepare for my next tournament and try to get ready. And it's been one of the most consistent, you know, years that I've ever had in golf from a standpoint of how I've performed in these events.
He has a secret he is willing to share that has helped elevate his game to the next level and maintain consistency.
“I give a tremendous amount of credit to something I started one year ago, which is Pilates," Haag said. “Some people might kind of chuckle like that, but when I'm home, I go to Pilates just about every day.
Haag added, “It has transformed my core and my legs to be able to withstand traveling with a huge, heavy golf bag and luggage and hauling it to a rental place and hauling it in and out of a bus.
“The type of Pilates that I do is on the reformer," Haag said. "The reformer is what enables you to get in positions to really create more flexibility and strength.”
Haag also credits his switch in putting for his success.
“When I switched to the broomstick style, that was a real catalyst for me,” Haag said. “I've won more tournaments in the last couple of years. I can't believe I've won nine tournaments this year.”
Now Haag will head into 2025 with these newfound tips and tricks and ready to build on all of his 2024 successes.
