Davis shot 13-under 203 to set the program record and secure her second individual win with the Tigers
Anna Davis of Auburn captured the second individual tournament win of her career on Tuesday at the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill.
The Sophomore Davis shot 13-under for the three rounds to take the tournament title by three shots over Morgan Smith of Georgia, who finished in solo second place at 10-under.
Davis carded rounds of 67-69-67 to secure the win. She is currently ranked No. 14 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings.
"I played the par 5s really well," Davis told Auburn Athletics after the victory. "My game was super consistent, and I wasn't afraid to go low out there. The golf course was absolutely beautiful and probably one of my favorite that I have played since I've been at Auburn. It was really special to win at such a high-class venue."
Sophia Schubert previously held the record with a 204 at the Alamo Invitational in 2014.
Smith finished in solo second place, and Lexanne Halama of Illinois, Molly Smith of UCF, Caitlyn McNab of Ole Miss, and Anna Pillard of Maryland all finished T3 at 9-under.
The program record for an 18-hole team score was also broken, as the Tigers carded the lowest round in school history with an 18-under 270 in the final round.
"Anna [Davis] was due for a win as she has been in the lead in our two previous tournaments," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen told Auburn Athletics about Davis. "She has been striking the ball really well and seeing some putts fall. She is such a great influence on our team with her forever calm demeanor."
Davis shot 5-under 67 in the final round with seven birdies, including three consecutive, on holes No. 16, 17, and 18. Davis has not finished lower than second individually through the team’s first three events of the season.
In the team competition, Ole Miss won with a team score of 30-under, with team rounds of 279-278-277. Houston finished in solo second place at 27-under, and Auburn finished in solo third place at 25-under. UCF and UCLA finished T4 at 19-under to round out the top five.
The 2022 ANWA winner talked with AmateurGolf.com earlier in the year.
