The SMU women's golf team finished 33-under to win the Chevron Collegiate at Golf Club of Houston, the Tournament Course, in Humble, Tex. The Mustangs finished four shots ahead of Maryland, who finished in solo second place at 29-under. The Tournament Course is home to the PGA Tour's Houston Open.

SMU's tournament was marked with consistency, shooting rounds of 278-275-278 to get to 33-under. They were the only team to break 280 in all three rounds.

The 33-under was the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history.

The Mustangs came into the day in a tie for the lead after putting up a 36-hole record, 23-under, on day one. SMU quickly distanced itself from the rest of the field with strong early-morning play, pushing the lead up to 12 shots at one point.

The win marked the Mustangs second of the season after a victory in the fall at the Jim West Challenge. The Mustangs have won eight tournaments over the last two seasons under head coach Lauren Mason, who is in her third year.

Texas A&M finished in solo third place at 24-under, Texas State finished in solo fourth place at 17-under, and Texas Tech finished in solo fifth place at 16-under.

Isabel Sy of Illinois and Nicha Kanpai of Maryland were co-medalists in the individual competition.

Sy shot a final round 4-under 68, and Kanpai shot a final round 3-under 69 to get to 12-under. Sy shot rounds of 71-65-68, and Kanpei shot rounds of 69-66-69.

Anna Morgan of Furman shot 11-under to finish in solo third place at 11-under. Ellie Szeryk of SMU and Patricie Mackova of Maryland finished T4 at 10-under. Seven golfers finished T6 at 9-under.

Morgan won The Landfill Tradition and the North & South Women's Amateur in 2023.

Sy had a fantastic 2023 campaign and has rode that momentum into 2024. She finished in solo fourth place at the 2023 Big Ten Women's Championships and The Landfill Tradition, finished T4 at the Windy City Collegiate, finished T3 at the Illini Invitational at Medinah, and in 2024, finished T2 at the Nexus Women's Collegiate Classic.

Kanpai recently finished T16 at the Women's Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.

Morgan is currently ranked No. 22 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings, while Sy is ranked No. 109 and Kanpai is ranked No. 214.
