Qualifying is complete at 26 sites in the U.S. and Canada; see who made it to Westchester CC in New York

Qualifying is complete at 26 sites in the U.S. and Canada for the 121st U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, to be played Aug. 2-8 at Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y.

An all-time high number of 1560 entries were accepted for the championship, including the defending champion Rose Zhang (Irvine, Calif.) who won the title in 2020 in a thrilling 38-hole final against 2019 champ Gabriela Ruffels.

July 15

Penn's Elle Nachmann got off to a blazing start at Streamsong (Fla.) Resort (Black Course) by making five birdies on her first eight holes to take medalist honors at 4-under 69.

Molly Smith, 16, birdied three of her last four holes to snag the second qualifier's spot at 1-under 71 at Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, NJ.

July 14

Four birdies on her inward nine secured a 2-under 68 and medalist honors for Houston Cougar Delaney Martin at Westfield (Ohio) Country Club. Lauren Freyvogel of Penn State made nine consecutive pars to finish and maintain her position with a 1-over 71. 15-year old high school student Cara Heisterkamp rebounded from a bogey on 16 and a double on 17 to birdie the final hole to secure her trip to Westchester. Indiana's Cailyn Henderson birdied the 18th hole to join Freyvogel and Heisterkamp at 1-over. Three golfers were left on the outside looking in at 2-over par.

July 13

Makensie Toole, who won the NCAA D3 individual championship for George Fox University as a freshman, emerged as the medalist at a talented field at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. Toole shot a 2-under 71 to take the top spot over Stanford's Brooke Seay and Oregon State's Ellie Slama, who recently won the Oregon Women's Amateur championship for a third time.

High heat and humidity greeted the golfers at Kenwood Golf & Country Club in Bethesda, Md. where Clare Connolly, former Maryland Women's Amateur champion and quarterfinalist in the 2018 U.S. Women's Mid-Am, took medalist honors at 1-under 69. Christina Carroll, who plays collegiately at Delaware, also qualified at 2-over 72, as did Sydney Hackett, who defeated Naomi Mitchell in a playoff to claim the third and final spot.

July 12

University of Denver standout Alyson Bean stayed home and claimed medalist honors at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murietta, Calif. with a 5-under score of 67. Sacramento State junior Tess Blair survived a 5-for-1 playoff to punch her ticket to Westchester.

There were plenty of late fireworks atop the leaderboard at the Boston Golf Club in Hingham, Mass. where Boston University standout Hanako Kawasaki shared medalist honors with Bridget Ma at even par 71. Ma moved inside the cutline with late birdies on 15 and 16 while Tracy Lee, who played collegiately at Wisconsin, birdied her last hole to secure the final qualifying spot.

July 8

Six spots were up for grabs at Walnut Grove Country Club in Dayton, Ohio, where Louisville Cardinal Lauren Hartlage carded a flawless 67 to come away with medalist honors. USC standout Malia Nam was one back at 68 while Kentucky teammates Marissa Wenzler and Jensen Castle also punched their tickets to Westchester. Wenzler used two late birdies on 14 and 16 to move inside the cutline while Castle, who was 2-over after seven holes, made four birdies coming home to finish at 2-under. Blair Stockett, who plays collegiately at Mississippi State, birdied 15 and made an eagle on 16, but endured a 3-for-1 playoff after making a bogey on 18.

Kan Bunnabodee, who plays collegiately at Purdue, earned medalist honors at Oak Grove Golf Club in Harvard, Ill. with a 5-under round of 66, but it was Kelly Sim who was the talk of this qualifier. The Northwestern standout who won the PING/ASU Invitational in March, birdied holes 15, 16 and 17 and ended with an eagle on the par-5 finishing hole to earn a trip to the Westchester Country Club. Tatum Beck survived a 3-for-1 playoff to earn the fourth qualifier's spot.

Myah McDonald and Claire Choi were co-medalists at Waikele Country Club in Honolulu, where Allysha Mae Mateo survived a 3-for-1 playoff spot to earn the third qualifier's spot.

Birdies were plentiful at the Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai, Calif. where UCLA's Caroline Canales, a quarterfinalist in the 2019 U.S. Women's Amateur, took medalist honors with a 9-under score of 63. A total of eight golfers from this qualifier who were at least 5-under will join Canales at Westchester Country Club.

Caroline Craig will lead six qualifiers from the Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, NC to Rye, NY after the Georgia junior took medalist honors with a 3-under 69. The five other qualifiers came in at even par.

July 5

Jenny Bae is on quite a roll. With wins in the last month at the Georgia Women's Amateur and the PGA's Georgia Women's Open, Bae took medalist honors at the Canton, Ga. qualifier held at the Woodmont Golf & Country Club with a 5-under round of 67. The rising junior at Georgia made six birdies and just one bogey to claim a one-stroke win over Megan Schoffel, who plays collegiately at Auburn. There was high drama for the sixth an final spot. Emerson Blair, 14, was within the cutline until she made a bogey on the 18th hole to fall into a 5-for-1 playoff for the final spot, but ultimately prevailed.

2021 Australian Women's Amateur champion Grace Kim took medalist honors at the St. Clair (Mich.) Golf Club with a 2-under round of 70. One stroke back was Michigan Junior PGA champion Sophie Stevens. Jasmine Ly claimed the fourth and final qualifying spot in a playoff against Taylor Kehoe after both players finished at 1-over 73.

Hannah Holzmann, a rising senior at Texas-San Antonio, played immaculate golf to claim medalist honors at Northgate CC in Houston, Texas with a 6-under 65. Her bogey-free round was highlighted by six birdies. With Holzmann setting a blistering pace, the tension was near the cutline. Faith Kilgore, who plays at Colorado Christian College, birdied the 18th hole to join the group at 1-under, thus avoiding a 6-for-1 playoff. Five golfers missed out at even par while five others were 1-over.

June 30

It was 14-year-old Michelle Liu who took medalist honors at the Westminster, Colo. qualifier held at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve with a 4-under 68. Her tournament experience belies her age. Last year, Liu became the youngest winner of the British Columbia Women's Amateur just eight days after capturing the B.C. Bantam Girls (14-under) title. She also played in the C.P. Women's Open as a 12-year old. Five other golfers finished one stroke off the cutline at 1-under.

Another established winner on the junior circuit, 14-year-old Jasmine Koo of Cerritos, Calif., topped the leader board at the Phoenix qualifier held at Papago Park Golf Course. Koo, who won the Toyota Tour Cup in April by six strokes after carding a final round 10-under 62, claimed medalist honors with a 4-under 68. Han-Hsuan Yu, who plays collegiately at Oklahoma State, birdied the final hole to avoid a 4-for-1 spot playoff.

Brooke Matthews

Brooke Matthews, who won last year's Blessings Intercollegiate for the University of Arkansas, shot a 3-under 67 to take one of three spots at Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kansas. McKenna Montgomery of Lindenwood University and 2021 U.S. Women's Open participant Tsai-Ching (Lorena) Tseng of the University of Tulsa were the other two qualifiers.

The largest field to date, 108 players, entered the San Mateo, Calif. qualifier at Peninsula Golf & Country Club. UC-Davis rising junior Jackie Lucena shot a 5-under 67 to lead the field, while seven other players also punched their ticket to Westchester CC.

At Belle Meade Country Club in Nashville, Tenn., 17-year-old Kynadie Adams was the medalist by three shots after a 69, but the real drama surrounded the final qualifying spots, with seven players playing off for the final three places in the championship. Duke University rising junior and double-USGA champion (2019 U.S. Women's Four-Ball, 2017 U.S. Girls' Junior) Erica Shepherd was among those surviving the playoff.

The first qualifier for the 121st U.S. Women's Amateur was held at Sunningdale Country Club in Scarsdale, N.Y., with former Penn State player and 2019 Women's Porter Cup champion Jackie Rogowicz taking medalist honors with a 6-under 65. Ohio State's Lauren Peter took the last of five qualifying spots, going birdie-par to win a 4-for-1 playoff.
