Hunter Epson wins the inaugural Silver State Amateur

Hunter Epson (Long Beach, CA), a senior at Long Beach State, used a final round 64 (-8) to come back and win the inaugural Silver State Amateur at Paiute Golf Resort on the Sun Mountain Course today.

Epson posted a back nine 30 to zoom away from a tightly-packed leaderboard through most of the round.

Finishing at -14 (202), Epson is the first player to win two Troon Saguaro Amateur Series events. He also won the 2018 Agave Amateur in Palm Springs.

Connor Golembeski (Redmond, WA) shot 65 to finish in 2nd place at 204 (-12). Second round leader Costas Panay shot a final round 70 (-2) to tie for third with Daniel Gurtner of Guatemala at 10 under par 206.

Panay was also going for his second Troon Saguaro Amateur Series win, having won the Silverado Amateur in July.

A part of the Troon Saguaro Amateur Series, the Silver State Amateur is a 54-hole championship open to amateur golfers who meet the eligibility and exemption requirements which include position in various rankings, USGA appearances, and state amateur and mid-amateur champions. Maximum handicap 3.0.
