I recently visited Cobra Golf headquarters for a full putter fitting with Chad DeHart, who leads Cobra’s putter product line, and the experience went far beyond simply finding the right head shape or length. Using Cobra’s new 3DP Tour and MIM putter lineups, DeHart analyzed everything from my setup and stroke path to impact tendencies and how different putter designs reacted to my motion.
What made the fitting especially valuable was that it quickly became part equipment fitting and part putting lesson. DeHart identified a few issues in my stroke and made some simple coaching adjustments that produced an immediate and dramatic improvement. Instead of just fitting a putter to my existing tendencies, the process helped improve the stroke itself and then determine which putter best complemented those changes.
The entire session was clinical, comprehensive and incredibly educational, and it completely changed my expectations for what a putter fitting can be.
