Titleist Vokey SM11 wedges.
Every wedge fitting has to start somewhere, and for us it starts with the gap wedge. It's the club that bridges the irons to the scoring clubs, and it raises a question plenty of golfers never think to ask: should it take on the look of the set (in my case, Titleist T150 irons), or is the same loft in a Vokey wedge more effective? There are real advantages to going the Vokey route, from turf interaction to a CG that can be moved higher in the head to produce the more penetrating ball flight that low handicaps and professional golfers like in their wedges.
This is Part 1 of a multi-part wedge fitting series. We'll work through the whole bottom of the bag one decision at a time, and that begins with distance gapping.
