About the tournament

The Memorial Amateur Championship, held each Memorial Day Weekend at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course in Carmichael, California, is one of the premier independent amateur events in the U.S. Founded by Vietnam veteran John Rochelle, the 54-hole stroke play tournament with a 36-hole cut has launched the careers of PGA Tour players including Cameron Champ, John Catlin, and Derek Ernst. In 2026, the tournament enters its 29th year and debuts an elite Women's Division alongside the men's championship.
