The Big South Conference, founded in 1983, celebrates 40 years of leadership in NCAA Division I athletics. Known for its commitment to academic, athletic, and personal development, the league features nine member institutions and 19 championship sports.
In golf, the Big South has achieved notable success, including two top-10 finishes in the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship, with a fifth-place finish in 2007. The conference boasts three top-24 finishes in the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship since 2011 and has produced standout athletes, including Dustin Johnson, the No. 1-ranked collegiate men’s golfer in 2007. Additionally, the Big South qualified three teams for NCAA postseason play in men’s golf in the same year for the first time in 2016.
