Unlock with membershipThe New Zealand Women's Amateur, established in 1893, is one of the country's oldest and most prestigious golf tournaments, showcasing top amateur female golfers from New Zealand and beyond. With a rich history of fostering talent, it has provided a platform for emerging players to compete at the highest level, with many past winners advancing to successful professional careers.
This year, the championship follows a traditional format starting with a 144-player field competing in a 36-hole stroke play qualifier on a par-71 course. The top 32 men and top 32 women from this stage progress to the match play rounds, where head-to-head knockout matches determine the finalists. By Sunday, two men and two women will vie for victory in a 36-hole final to crown the men’s and women’s champions.
In the event of a tie for the last match play spots after the stroke play rounds, a sudden-death playoff will decide the remaining positions in the top 32. As a cornerstone event in New Zealand’s golfing calendar, the New Zealand Women's Amateur continues to celebrate and elevate the sport, preserving its legacy while highlighting the talent of the future.
