Wortman, of Creswell, Ore., led the tournament after a first-round, 2-under 70. He returned the same score on Sunday to reach 4 under. It left him tied with Chris Polski.
Polski, of Eugene, Ore., had rounds of 71-69 to match Wortman. Polski qualified for last year’s U.S. Mid-Amateur. The two entered sudden death and Wortman prevailed. Wortman won his Oregon Junior title in 2015 and was a semifinalist earlier this summer at the Oregon Amateur.
The women’s division also ended in a playoff. Ellen Secor, who combined with Colorado State teammate Katrina Prendergast to win the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball this spring, defeated Victoria Gailey in sudden death to win.
Secor had rounds of 70-74 to reach even par. She struggled coming in on Sunday with three bogeys on her back nine and no birdies. Gailey, an incoming freshman at the University of Nevada, made up two strokes on Secor on the back.
Last year’s champion Jennifer Krause, who will be a junior at the University of Nevada, was third at 1 over.
