Twice as nice for Nate Gahman at Georgia Mid-Amateur

Nate Gahman captured his second-straight Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship after a one-hole playoff with Stephen Behr and made a little history for himself along the way as he became the first player to win back-to-back titles since Jeff Knox in 2008-09.

Gahman (70-71-71) began the final round tied for the lead with Brett Barron and Austin Weathington of Brookhaven at 3-under-par but found himself two shots off the lead held by William Blumberg after making a bogey on the par-4 10th hole at The Golf Club of Georgia (Lakeside).

Back-to-back birdies in holes No. 11 and 12 got Gahman back to 4-under and a tie for the lead with Blumberg and Behr.

After Blumberg and Behr both made bogey on the par-3 17th in the group ahead to fall back to 3-under-par, Gahman was back on top of the leaderboard heading into No. 17. Playing a group ahead, Behr birdied the par-5 18th to draw even and when Gahman was unable to get up-and-down from the back of the 18th green, the two players returned to the 18th for a playoff.

Both players had birdie chances, but it was Gahman who was able to convert from 12 feet out to capture his second straight Georgia Mid-Amateur title.

With rounds of 70-71-71, Gahman was also the only player to finish under par in each of the three rounds.
