For Yasuda, this is her second week in a row making the cut in an LPGA major. The Japanese player tied for low amateur honors at the Evian Championship last week in France. This week, Yasuda has had rounds of 73-70 and at 1 under, is in a tie for 36th.
Thitikul’s round was in the conversation with the lowest rounds of the day. Celine Boutier, a former Duke player, had a 66, which was the day’s low. Thitikul had four birdies in her back nine for a 32.
The only downfall to competing in this year’s Women’s British Open is that it backs up to next week’s U.S. Women’s Amateur. None of the seven amateurs in the field, including World No. 1 Frida Kinhult, will play the Women’s Am.
Here’s how the rest of the amateurs fared on Friday:
MC. Emma Spitz, 76-72 (4 over)
MC. Emily Toy, 76-74 (6 over)
MC. Alice Hewson, 75-77 (8 over)
MC. Frida Kinhult, 77-76 (9 over)
MC Ingrid Lindblad, 74-80 (10 over)
