That was probably ok with low professional Gracen Blount of Arkansas, who posted a very respectable 1-under finish for the 54-hole event at The Bridges Golf Club to claim the first professional prize of $7,500.
Making a tap-in putt for par on the 18th green, Jin (a) was showered with cheers. “It feels good, I haven't had a win in a really long time,” said Jin (a). For her championship win and Low-Amateur honors, she took home a $1,000 golf shop gift certificate and two crystal trophies.
Michele Redman of Plymouth, Minnesota, is the first ever Ewing Automotive Group Legends of the LPGA Division champion at the Texas Women’s Open. Redman fired a smooth 34-36–70 during the final round. She finished the championship at a total of 8-under overall and two strokes ahead of the competition.
The win was a boost to Redman’s confidence going into the season, “It’s nice to get one [win] under my belt as the season gets going,” said Redman. When asked about her play, Redman responded with, “I hit it good, I hit it really good. It was nice to just be consistent…. It's been a while since I’ve won individually.”
The newly formed division had 22 competitors vying for a purse of $75,000 thanks to Ewing Automotive Group. Redman received $13,500 for her win.
The host course played at a par of 72 and a yardage of 6511. Jin hails from New Jersey, and plays for Sam Houston State.
