The Longhorns secured their first Big 12 Match Play title on Wednesday at The Club at Houston Oaks, defeating Texas Tech, 3-2-1 in the championship match.
The Longhorns got victories from Mason Nome (3 and 2), Cole Hammer (3 and 2) and Pierceson Coody (2 and 1), while Parker Coody halved his match to take down the Red Raiders on the par 71, 7,001-yard course located in Hockley, Texas.
The Longhorns posted a 4-0-1 mark during the three-day tournament while Pierceson Coody and Nome each registered perfect 5-0-0 individual match play records during the week.
No. 1 seed Oklahoma took down No. 2 seed Oklahoma State 5-1-0 to claim third place and No. 6 seed TCU earned a 4-2-0 victory against No. 5 seed Kansas to win fifth place. No. 10 seed Iowa State beat No. 8 seed West Virginia 5-1-0 to grab seventh place while No. 7 seed Baylor won a 4-2-0 matchup against No. 9 seed Kansas State to finish ninth.Mason bringin’ some hardware back to ATX. @Big12Conference Match Play 🤘 pic.twitter.com/t4bgihA6e7
