Terry, who played college golf for Lipscomb, didn’t make a bogey Saturday in his run to his first state mid-am title. He had a back-nine 30 to reach 17 under and seal his victory.
That meant Terry got to play the final round with Jackson.
“I knew a lot about Tim, but he even had some stories for me today I didn’t know about – playing with Gary Player in the Masters, winning some U.S. Mid-Amateurs,” Terry said. “Any time you can play with a guy like that and perform, it’s a definite confidence booster.”
Jackson, with a final-round 64, tied for second with defending champion Matt Cooper. Both reached 12 under for 54 holes. Wheeler had a 1-over 73 to drop to a tie for fifth with Joshua Collins.
