Sarah Lydic captured her first national title, posting rounds of 67-75-72 to win the Women's Eastern Amateur by eight shots at 2-under 214.
The Wake Forest junior from Ocean View, Del., led from start to finish and was the only player in the field to complete 54 holes under par. After opening with a tournament-best 67, Lydic built a sizable advantage through two rounds before closing with an even-par 72 to secure the victory at Occano.
Despite challenging conditions throughout the championship, Lydic remained in control during the final round. After making the turn in 1-over-par, she pulled away with birdies on Nos. 12, 15, and 16 to put the title out of reach.
The victory marks the first national championship of Lydic's career and adds another milestone to an impressive summer campaign for the Wake Forest standout.
Just last week she finished fourth at the Women's Southern Amateur. Last season she competed in six ranked events, winning the BMW GAP Women's Championship in July and adding three more top‑10 finishes to close out the year.
Elizabeth Ryu, a Rutgers freshman from Dublin, Ohio, finished runner-up at 6-over 222 after rounds of 74-77-71, eight shots behind the champion.
Oral Roberts sophomore Anna Swan from North East, Pa., claimed third place at 9-over 225 following rounds of 76-77-72.
