The fifteenth and sixteenth holes proved to be the pivotal points in the match. “We thought we gave it away on 15,” Parrott said.

Justin Hood stuck his approach shot to 4 feet, but couldn’t convert the short birdie putt to win the hole, Marter on the swing in momentum “I told Jack that was our sign.” Parrott birdied the sixteenth hole which gave the high school teammates the 1-up lead they would never relinquish.

Parrott hit his iron shot on the par-3 sixteenth to 3 feet and converted the putt. “I was really just aiming at the center of the green, but it felt good, the wind pushed it.” On the seventeenth hole, Hood couldn’t believe his eyes as his birdie putt to tie the match hit the back of the hole but stayed out.
