Rich Wills closes with 66 to win North Carolina Amateur and secure U.S. Amateur spot

The Clemson junior birdied two of his final three holes to secure a two-shot victory, and will be heading to Merion in August

Rich Wills of Cramerton, N.C., closed with a tournament-best 6-under 66 to claim the 66th North Carolina Amateur Championship at Bermuda Run Country Club’s East Course, finishing at 12-under 276 and earning a two-shot victory along with an exemption into the 2026 U.S. Amateur Championship.

The Clemson junior carded rounds of 70-71-69-66 to top a tightly packed leaderboard that saw multiple lead changes throughout the final round. Wills entered the closing stretch tied among several contenders before taking control with birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 after a bogey at the 15th.
