Randolph put together rounds of 72-68 for an even-par total that was two shots better than the next-best player. After his opening 72, Randolph had some ground to make up. Thomas LaMorte had opened with 67.
In the afternoon, however, Randolph had three birdies and just one bogey for a 68 while LaMorte fell to 75 and second place.
James Nicholas, just two days removed from a top-3 finish at the Sunnehanna Amateur, tied for fourth with Matt Minerva. Nicholas went 68-76.
Brad Tilley, an accomplished mid-amateur who reached match play at the U.S. Amateur lat summer, was 10th at 8 over.
