WATERTOWN, Conn. — Austin Perkins birdied the opening hole of Friday's championship match at the 85th Connecticut Junior Amateur and never trailed, defeating Justin Renda of the Highfield Club, 5&4, to claim the title in Watertown, Connecticut.
With the victory, the Hartford Golf Club member became just the seventh player ever to win both the Connecticut Amateur and the Connecticut Junior Amateur — and he punched his ticket to the 78th U.S. Junior Amateur, set for Saucon Valley Country Club in Pennsylvania, July 20-25.
