Sanchez, who carded rounds of 71-70-68-73 finished 2-under and in a tie for 15th with among others last years low amateur Curtis Luck. At the time Luck was the defending U.S. Amateur and Asia-Pacific Amateur champion.
The best round of the week for Sanchez, his third round 3-under 68, started off slowly with an opening hole bogey but that was his only blemish on the scorecard. Sanchez quickly bounced back with a birdie on the next hole and then added three more as part of a flawless second nine.
During the final round, Sanchez who medaled this year at the U.S. Amateur, had an open down round and was 4-over for the day through 17-holes. However, the Australian created a lifelong memory when he eagled the par-5 18th to complete his week.
The title went to Australian Cameron Davis who turned professional just over a year ago. Davis, who had a difficult first year as a pro, finished 11-under and one shot in front of Matt Jones and Jonas Blixt at 10-under. The win was the first of Davis' pro career.
