Maddi Kamas wins Oklahoma Women's Stroke Play

Kamas took home her fourth title in the last five events at The Territory Golf Club, conquering 60 mph gusts in the final round

Maddi Kamas just cannot miss. The Oklahoma City University commit from Kingfisher, Okla., just secured her fourth win in five events on the local amateur circuits with a playoff win at the Oklahoma Women's Stroke Play Championship. With an opening-round 2-under-par 70, Kamas sat atop the leaderboard two clear of Owasso’s Taylor Towers. On Tuesday, the wind was truly "sweeping down the plains" as wind at The Territory Golf Club in Duncan were sustained around 30 miles per hour and gusting up to near 60. Having to hold onto her lead in the wind like Dorthy held onto Toto in a tornado, Kamas posted a 4-over final round, finding herself in a three-way playoff with Missouri State sophomore Faith Belmear and Tulsa alumna Michaela Dierinzo who were both at 146. With a par on the first playoff hole, Kamas secured her fourth title in five events. Last week, Kamas took home the Oklahoma Junior Stroke Play before coming up short in the match-play portion to one of her good friends, Emily Miller. As the temperatures in Oklahoma soar over 100-degrees this summer, Kamas will be riding this hot-streak for a while.
