Former Long Beach State golfer Ryder Epson won the Lompoc City Championship on Sunday, closing with an even-par 72 to win by a single shot at La Purisima Golf Course.
Epson started the day two shots behind a trio of golfers but produced the only par-or-better round of the weekend to prevail.
Once again La Purisima cemented its reputation as a difficult test of championship golf, with only Epson able to break 150 for the weekend. He finished at 5-over 149.
Mid-amateurs Jack Perry and Ramie Sprinkling, who were among those tied for the lead after the first round, each had rounds of 75-75 to share second.
For Perry, it was the second-straight week with a runner-up finish -- he was second at last week's Goleta City Championship at nearby Glen Annie Golf Club. Perry also was the runner-up in last year's Lompoc City, sharing second with Epson.
Preston Gomersall and Camden Price were joint fourth at 7-over 151.
Michael Mier won the Net Division with rounds of 72-71, three shots ahead of Mark Pata and Dan Struble. Mier's 71 was one of only three net rounds under par for the weekend.
