Lancaster Country Club to Host Five USGA Women's Championships Through 2044

Lancaster (Pa.) Country Club, one of the most decorated venues in modern women's golf, will host five USGA women's championships between 2028 and 2044, the association announced Tuesday — a run that spans nearly every stage of the competitive game, from its youngest stars to its most accomplished seniors.

The commitment covers the 2028 U.S. Girls' Junior, the 2033 U.S. Senior Women's Open, the 2037 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur, the 2040 U.S. Women's Amateur and the 2044 U.S. Women's Open. Three of the five are amateur championships, putting the game's top juniors, mid-amateurs and amateurs on a marquee stage at a course that has already twice tested the world's best professionals.

Five championships, five generations

• 2028 U.S. Girls' Junior — the premier championship for players 18 and under
• 2033 U.S. Senior Women's Open — for the game's veteran competitors, age 50 and up
• 2037 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur — for amateurs age 25 and older
• 2040 U.S. Women's Amateur — one of the oldest and most prestigious titles in the women's game
• 2044 U.S. Women's Open — Lancaster's third U.S. Women's Open

"This announcement represents a true multi-generational commitment to women's golf," said John Bodenhamer, the USGA's chief championships officer. "From a teenager playing in her first Girls' Junior to a veteran competitor in the Senior Women's Open, Lancaster will be a proving ground for female golfers of every age over the next two decades. Few clubs have the history, the golf course and the community support to take on that kind of responsibility, and Lancaster has already proven it on the game's biggest stage."

A proven U.S. Women's Open stage

Lancaster has twice hosted the U.S. Women's Open, most recently in 2024, when Yuka Saso won her second title by three strokes over Hinako Shibuno — three years after claiming her first at The Olympic Club. The club's first U.S. Women's Open, in 2015, was won by In Gee Chun, whose breakthrough launched an LPGA Tour career that would grow to include three major championships. Chun has remained closely tied to the club in the years since, including through an educational foundation she and Lancaster established for local students.

The golf course

Designed by William Flynn and opened in 1920, Lancaster was renovated in 2007 under the guidance of Ron Forse, who restored many of the course's original design features. It served as a local qualifying site for the 2008 U.S. Women's Open and has hosted the 2002, 2007 and 2018 Pennsylvania Opens, the 1990 and 2005 Pennsylvania Women's Amateurs, the 2014 Women's Western Amateur and eight Pennsylvania State Amateur Championships.

Pennsylvania, golf's championship heartland

With the new additions, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has now been awarded 97 USGA championships — more than any other state. That total includes this year's U.S. Junior Amateur at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, won by Noah Maclauchlan, and the U.S. Amateur at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, won by England's Jack Whaley.
