Matti went out in even-par 72 to start the day. He bogeyed two of the first three holes of the second round, but rebounded with three birdies in the next four. A double-bogey 7 at the 10th nearly derailed his day but he righted the ship with two more birdies coming in. Matti finished the second round with 1-under 71.
Three players were two shots behind Matti in a tie for third. That included Dan Joseph, Robert McHugh and Bob Duenskie. McHugh was this event two years ago as a 16-year-old. He will play college golf at Monmouth in the fall.
