The 44th Curtis Cup Match heads to Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, California, where eight of the top female amateurs from the United States will face eight from Great Britain and Ireland in one of amateur golf’s most important international team competitions.
GB&I currently holds the Cup after edging the United States, 10.5-9.5, at Sunningdale Golf Club in England in 2024. The United States still owns the all-time series lead, 31-9-3, and will need 10.5 points this week to take the Cup back.
Event overview
The Curtis Cup is a biennial match-play competition featuring the United States against Great Britain and Ireland. Each team is made up of eight female amateur golfers.
The format features three four-ball matches and three foursomes matches on both Friday and Saturday, followed by eight singles matches on Sunday. Each match is worth one point, with tied matches worth a half point.
Because GB&I is the defending champion, it needs 10 points to retain the Cup. The United States needs 10.5 points to reclaim it.
Bel-Air gives the week a fitting stage. The George Thomas-designed course has hosted multiple USGA championships, including the 1976 U.S. Amateur, the 2004 U.S. Senior Amateur and the 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Team USA vs. GB&I: What to watch
The Americans have a familiar mission: win back the Cup on home soil. The USA roster includes Anna Davis, Kary Hollenbaugh, Jasmine Koo, Farah O’Keefe, Kiara Romero, Asterisk Talley, Avery Weed and Kelly Xu, with Meghan Stasi again serving as captain.
GB&I will try to retain the Cup under captain Catriona Matthew. The GB&I side features Beth Coulter, Sophia Fullbrook, Lily Hirst, Isla McDonald-O’Brien, Charlotte Naughton, Nellie Ong, Patience Rhodes and Davina Xanh.
The first two days will set the tone, but Sunday’s singles session is where the Cup can swing quickly. With eight points available in the final session, a close match can change dramatically in a matter of minutes.
