Georgia Cup: British Am champ Aldrich Potgieter defeats U.S. Am winner Sam Bennett

Just days after winning the prestigious Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, the fantastic play of the rising RSA star continues

The Golf Club of Georgia continued its tradition of inviting the U.S. and British Amateur champions to play a pre-Masters tuneup.

Aldrich Potgieter of South Africa defeated Sam Bennett on Sunday, just days after capturing the prestigious Junior Invitational at nearby Sage Valley Golf Club.

Each player has his eyes on the bigger prize next week, as they try and make the 36-hole cut and compete for low amateur honors at The Masters.

Potgieter with The British Amateur trophy
Both the British Amateur and U.S. Amateur trophies were on site as the respective champions battled at the Golf Club of Georgia.

In the end, it was Potgieter continuing his good form and taking the match 5&4; the key stretch was his string of four consecutive birdies starting at the 8th hole.

The weather didn't cooperate; rain pushed back the start of the match 2 1/2 hours. Hopefully the weather clears out and cooperates for both the ANWA and The Masters.
