Euler wins spot in Genesis Open through College Showcase

Kentucky senior Lukas Euler fired a 67 in the one-day event to earn a spot in the real deal at Riviera Country Club

PGA Tour starts aren’t just handed out when you’re a college player. You’ve often got to play your way in, which is exactly what Kentucky senior Lukas Euler did on Feb. 11. Euler captured the Genesis Open Collegiate Showcase with a 4-under 67, and now will tee it up again at Riviera Country Club for the PGA Tour’s Genesis Open.

Euler was one of 12 collegians who played in the fourth annual Collegiate Showcase, an event created by the TGR Foundation (a Tiger Woods charity). He joins an impressive past champions list, which includes current professionals Will Zalatoris (2015 winner) and Scottie Scheffler (2018 winner).

Euler, from Dieburg, Germany, has appeared in 30 career tournaments for the Wildcats. He has logged 41 par-or-better rounds and posted five top-10 finishes.

This summer, Euler won in a playoff at the Dutch Amateur to receive exemption for the KLM Open on the European Tour. He missed the cut in the pro event.

Euler also finished second at the German International Amateur in 2017.

Each college player was paired up with a PGA Tour player in Monday’s event, and Euler drew J.B. Holmes.

Other collegians who played the event included Wake Forest’s Cameron Young, Texas’ Steven Chervony and Oklahoma State’s Hayden Wood.
