Asterisk Talley Withdraws from Portland Classic as Amateur-Heavy Field Takes Shape

The reigning U.S. Women's Amateur champion has pulled out of the LPGA's Portland stop, but the field still runs deep with amateur talent.

Fresh off her win at the U.S. Women's Amateur, Asterisk Talley was set to be one of the headline amateurs at The Standard Portland Classic. That's no longer the case. Talley — now a two-time USGA champion and the top-ranked American junior at No. 8 in the world — has withdrawn from the event because of a conflict with school.

Her exit comes just days after she captured the U.S. Women's Amateur title, and she leaves behind one of the deeper amateur groups the Portland stop has assembled in recent years.
