Asian Tour cancels 2027 Q-School: what it means for golf's professional pathways

For an elite amateur weighing when — and where — to turn professional, the map just changed. The Asian Tour announced Monday that it will not conduct a Qualifying School for the 2027 season, eliminating for one year a pathway that has launched hundreds of professional careers, including those of many decorated amateurs from the United States, Australia, Asia and Europe.

In a statement posted to its social channels, the Tour said the decision followed "a thorough review" and was driven by the second half of its 2026 schedule being "materially impacted by the cessation of The International Series" — the elevated series of events that had been bankrolled as LIV Golf's feeder circuit. With fewer tournaments to play, the Tour concluded it could not responsibly add a new class of Q-School graduates to a membership already short on starts.
