CHANDLER, Ariz. (April 19, 2014) -- Former Major League Baseball player Mark Bellhorn shot a 7-under 64 and won a playoff against Jake Byrum for the 2014 Arizona Stroke Play title.
Bellhorn, who was a member of the 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series championship team, put together a marvelous day at Lone Tree Golf Club following rounds of 71-73 in the first two rounds of the event.
Byrum carded rounds of 74-68-66 to finish tied with Bellhorn and force the playoff.
The two went on to play the first hole and both reached the green in two. Bellhorn buried a birdie putt and Byrum couldn't match.
Tyler Saunders and second-round leader Bryan Hoops finished tied for second place, one shot out of the playoff.
Eric Ghim, the first-round leader, and Rick Bojalad tied for fifth.
