Andy Yoon breaks through with first pro win at Southern California Open

A wire-to-wire performance and opening 63 power Yoon to a five-shot victory in the desert

Andy Yoon delivered a composed, front-running performance to claim his first professional victory at the 2026 Southern California Open at Indian Wells Golf Resort.

The Cerritos, Calif., native opened with a tournament-low 9-under 63 and never gave the field a chance to catch up, finishing at 14-under 199 (63-70-66) to win by five shots on the Players Course. In firm, fast conditions, Yoon set the tone early and controlled the tournament throughout.

He followed his opening round with a steady 1-under 70 in windy conditions to take a four-shot lead into the final round. From there, it was about maintaining control. Yoon closed with a 66, making key saves along the way to keep his advantage intact.

Michael Slesinski of La Quinta, Calif., finished runner-up at 9-under 204 (67-70-67), while Connor Herrera of Encinitas, Calif., placed third at 8-under 205 (72-66-67) to also earn low amateur honors.

For Yoon, a former SCPGA Junior Tour player, the win marks a significant breakthrough. He joins a list of past champions that includes Billy Casper, Gene Littler, and Ken Venturi, and takes home the $10,000 first-place prize.

It was a week that started fast—and never slowed down.
