RANCHO MIRAGE, CA (March 29, 2017) -- As first reported by Golfweek's Beth Ann Nichols Stanford freshman Albane Valenzuela has pulled out of the ANA Inspiration due to injuries sustained in a bike accident.
In the accident which occurred on the Stanford campus, Valenzuela suffered a concussion and also received stitches to her nose.
The native of Switzerland is experiencing pain in her knee and wrist and according to head coach Anne Walker, Valenzuela is receiving treatment from the Stanford Hospital and the Athletic Training Department.
After the accident on March 23rd, Valenzuela's family flew in from Switzerland.
This week would have marked Valenzuela's second straight appearance in the ANA Inspiration, following a tied for 65th finish. With the finish Valenzuela shared low amateur honors with Hannah O'Sullivan.
Since her ANA Inspiration appearance last season, Valenzuela has represented Switzerland in the Olympics and also started her Stanford career on a high note. Among her strong showings for the Cardinal are a tied for 10th at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate and a tied for third effort at the Bruin Wave Women's Invitational.
