The Riverton High School senior closed with a birdie on 18th to finish at 5-under and edge Drake Harvey by one

Jaxon Erickson delivered the defining moment of the tournament when it mattered most, posting a birdie on the final hole to win the Sand Hollow Amateur at 5-under-par 139 and claim a one-shot victory.

The 18-year-old Riverton High School student, who has verbally committed to the University of Utah, closed with a steady 68 after an opening 71, then capped his week with a clutch finish on 18 to separate himself from the field.

Erickson edged Drake Harvey (-4, 140), a Brigham Young University commit, who made a serious late run with a final-round 67 to force the pressure right to the last green. Austin Shelley (-3, 141) finished third, one more shot back.

The win also marked a clear step forward at an event where Erickson has been knocking on the door. He finished T-7 in the last edition and T-11 in 2024, and this time turned that steady progression into a trophy with a closing birdie under pressure.

Erickson’s win is an early marker for his 2026 campaign, picking up where he left off after a standout 2025 season on the junior circuit. He is currently fifth in the Utah Junior Golf Association’s Johnny Miller Cup standings after playing 13 ranked events last year.

In 2025, he broke through with a victory at the JGA Coca-Cola Junior Championship in May and added runner-up finishes at the 42nd Utah State Junior Amateur in June and the UJGA Opener in April — results that underline both his week-to-week consistency and his ability to close when the pressure rises.
