Clanton and Koivun nearing PGA Tour status, Hastings has a great month,
Sean Melia and Justin Golba recap a busy January in amateur golf, highlighting key events, standout performances, and emerging talents.
They discuss Texas's victory at the Southwestern Invite, Gordon Sargent's struggles, the exciting Jones Cup, Justin Hastings' win at the Latin America Amateur, and the impressive showings of amateurs at the Farmers Insurance Open.
They also touch on the current landscape of amateur golf, focusing on the race for PGA Tour cards among young talents, the importance of the US Development Programs, and the excitement surrounding upcoming events like the Walker Cup.
Justin on Miles Russell: I don't even understand how Miles Russell does it; he won the South Beach. He broke a tournament record, then he came to the Jones Cup, and he was the co-leader after the second round and was just in the mix. Again, this is against the top collegiate players in the world, and it's a 16-year-old just running with them. You know, and he looks comfortable. There's not a tournament he plays like it's like Asterisk Talley on the other side on the women's side. It's like there's never a bad tournament. You know what I mean? They don't win every single time they go out, but hey get close.
