Heading into the final round, the European men lead 7 to 5, while the United States women hold a commanding 10 to 2 lead
After two days of the bi-annual 2024 Concession Cup Matches at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club in Savannah, Ga., the European men's team leads the United States 7 to 5, and the United States women lead 10 to 2 over the European team.
After the Fourball matches on the first day, the European men's team took an early 3.5 to 2.5 lead, while the United States women blitzed the European women to take a 5 to 1 lead.
Then, after the two foursome sessions, both teams won by the same margin to hold their respective leads heading into the final singles matches.
The Irish powerhouse duo of Matthew McClean and Hugh Foley have led the European team and are 2-0. The two are good friends, as McClean caddied for Foley in the match play portion of the recent U.S. Mid-Amateur.
McClean is currently ranked No. 1 in the AmateurGolf.com Mid-Amateur Rankings.
It is the fifth playing of this Ryder Cup-style event between the top Mid-Am and Senior amateur players in the USA and Europe, and this year is the inaugural edition of a women’s side to the matches.
Conducted by the Amateur Golf Alliance, the matches promote the amateur game worldwide to the Mid-Am and Senior players.
