Xander Schauffele: What's in the bag for the major winner
5/19/2024 | by Justin Golba of AmateurGolf.com
Schauffele started the tournament with the lowest round in major history and finished it with the lowest 72-hole score in a major
Xander Schauffele has been long known as the best player in golf not to have a major win.
Not anymore.
Schauffele tied the lowest round in major history on Thursday with a 9-under 62 and finished off a wire-to-wire win at the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club with a five-foot birdie putt on No. 18 on Sunday.
Here's a look at the Callaway equipment in his bag, the continued success of the Chrome Golf Ball Family, and Odyssey's putter count domination.

A Chrome Tour Golf Ball
Schauffele has gamed his driver and golf ball since the season-opening event in Hawaii, earning eight top-10 finishes already in 2024. With this combination, he's added over four miles per hour of ball speed off the tee and is now averaging over 183 mph for the year. He hit 12/14 fairways in his round today, with an average of over 313 yards per drive. Paradym Ai Smoke is the #1 Driver in U.S. Market Share for Q1, per the latest Golf Datatech.
His Chrome Tour Golf Ball provides Schauffele with total performance from tee-to-green, with fast ball speeds and outstanding greenside control. To put that into greater context, he's currently second on the PGA TOUR this year in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, second in Strokes Gained: Total, and eighth in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee.
Callaway is in a strong position as the #2 Golf Ball Brand at the PGA Championship, where 22 players in the field are using a new Chrome Tour or Chrome Tour X Golf Ball. Chrome Tour is built for players who want the best in distance and feel. It's engineered for outstanding performance with exceptional speed, consistent flight, incredible spin, and greenside control.
Chrome Tour X is for the best players who want speed and the ultimate control from their Tour Ball. It is engineered to provide outstanding distance, workability, and spin so you can experience your best performance from tee to green.
Odyssey is the No. 1 Putter at yet another major, led by the continued success of the Ai-ONE Putter lineup. In fact, 16 players are using one of the Ai-ONE models at the PGA Championship. It has been the No. 1 Putter throughout the year, including at Augusta, and at The PLAYERS Championship. The Ai-ONE inserts are designed to create more consistent ball speed across the face.
