Women's Orlando International: Mirabel Ting rallies for the win

Ting overcame a first round 3-over 75 to come back and win the Championship
Mirabel Ting shot a final round 4-under 68 to chase down the leaders and win the 2023 Women's Orlando International Amateur Championship Orange County National Golf Center, the Panther Lake Course, in Winter Garden, Fla., by three shots.
Ting finished 1-under total and three shots ahead of Monet Chun, who shot 2-over and finished in solo second place.
Ting shot rounds of 75-71-68, consistently improving to move up the leaderboard and surpassing the 36-hole leaders.
Mary Miller and Aphrodite Deng finished T3 at 3-over. Julia Gregg rounded out the top five with a solo fifth-place finish at 4-over.
Ting is a sophomore at Florida State University who transferred from Augusta University last fall season.
Due to inclement weather, the final round was a shotgun start for the field.
LSU star Latanna Stone won the 2021 and 2022 championships, with Virginie Ding winning last year.
The Orlando International Amateur has roots that run deep in international golf. It is organized by two men who started as opponents, only to cross an ocean and become not just teammates but brothers-in-law.Stories such as these drive home the realization that the golf community is small and truly global.
The friendship between Maxence De Craecker of Belgium and Tiago Rodrigues of Portugal goes back nearly a decade. They were young men playing the amateur tournament circuit in Europe for their respective national teams when Belgium and Portugal were pitted against each other at the 2010 European Amateur Team Championship. For the record, Tiago won the match that July day at Osterakers Golf Club in Sweden.
The seed for the Orlando International Amateur was planted simply by a desire to create an event that was a mainstay on the amateur golf calendar. It grew from a conversation about a lack of international events in a golf hub like Orlando. Knowing that several other high-level amateur events were contested in Florida during winter, De Craecker and Rodrigues thought they could create a desirable stop on that circuit.
