Lucy Li is among two players who have withdrawn from the Augusta National Women's Amateur, set to begin next week
Li is the No. 7-ranked female amateur in the country, and dominated early-2019 headlines when her amateur status came into question. Li had appeared in an Apple Watch commercial which featured her in various everyday situations, but with a heavy emphasis on golf.
The situation was resolved last month when the USGA granted Li a one-time warning for violating the rules of amateur status. Li had already received her invitation to the ANWA at that point, but the ruling meant that she could play.
Li has been replaced in the field by Arkansas senior Kaylee Benton, who was a U.S. Women’s Amateur semifinalist and won the clinching point for the Razorbacks in their SEC title run last spring.
Jessica Yuen, a Missouri junior, replaced Melton in the field. Yuen’s entry was announced Thursday.
